This Just In: Pensacola Mayor Reveals New Details About Palafox Street Reimagining

At Jerry Pate Design, we are passionate about creating spaces for people to live, work and play. One of our favorite ways to pursue this is by creating safe streets which prioritize the pedestrian, not the car. The New Palafox will utilize traffic calming measures such as lane width reduction, curb bump outs, street trees, rumble pavers, elevated crosswalks and added edge friction to convey to the vehicle they are in a space where speeding is not welcomed. Our priority throughout conceptual design was limiting the exposure time for vulnerable pedestrians in crosswalks. We’ve reduced some crossing distances by over 22 feet. This has a direct impact in reducing potential conflicts between people and cars as well as increasing the walkability and overall experience of Palafox Street. Our team is thrilled to share in the excitement as this project has been announced in greater detail.
